The Coping cue Cards™ card decks have tons of coping strategies, which can be used at home, at school, or on the go. Divided by 5 coping styles, these decks bring order to the mountain of ideas for coping strategies that work for kids and are designed to work at both school and home. Use with individual kids or small groups to help them identify which skills work for them, and/or find new skills to expand their strategies for coping. Give a child a few cards as a visual reminder of strategies they can use. A great addition to coping skills toolkits for a particular child, or a a calm down space in a classroom.
The Sensory Deck includes 44 coping skills cards with simple strategies that use a child's senses to help them regulate their actions. A sample of the sensory coping skills included in the deck are:
Touch: Use mermaid fabric, use hand warmers, lay down on soft blankets or pillows
Taste: eat something sour, east something chewy
Smell: use a sensor with calming scents, put on lotion
Visual: watch a lava lamp, turn down the lights or turn them off
Auditory: Listen to sounds on a sound machine, like birds chirping, frogs croaking, waterfalls, ocean, waves, or white noise
Proprioceptive: stack and carry heavy books, move chairs, wall push ups, use a weighted stuffed animal or lap pad
Vestibular: stand on a balance board, sit and move on a scooter board, crab walk
